Following NIST's finalization\nof PQC standards [2], ML-DSA has been established as the primary\nquantum-resistant signature standard. As quantum computing advances, legacy\nalgorithms like RSA are becoming increasingly vulnerable and are slated\nfor replacement by 2035 [3]. By adopting ML-DSA for IPA library signing,\nthis work secures the long-term integrity of the IPA library and aligns\nlibcamera with the latest NIST security frameworks.\n\n[1] https://csrc.nist.gov/pubs/fips/204/final\n[2] https://csrc.nist.gov/projects/post-quantum-cryptography/post-quantum-cryptography-standardization/evaluation-criteria/security-(evaluation-criteria)]\n[3] https://nvlpubs.nist.gov/nistpubs/ir/2024/NIST.IR.8547.ipd.pdf\n\nChanges in v5:\n- Apply a generic way to verify both RSA and ML-DSA-65 signatures.\n- Drop the conditional compilation for signature algorithms.\n- Using two steps to verify the algorithm is supported by the library for the\n legacy Debian distribution.\n\nChanges in v4:\n- Drop conditional compilation for signature algorithms.\n- Add utils/check-algo.sh to check if the signature algorithm is\n supported by the library.\n- Add error message if the signature algorithm is not supported by the library.\n- Delete the existed private key file before generating a new one.\n- Replace the RSA verification with EVP_DigestVerify().\n\nChanges in v3:\n- Add \"utils::scope_exit ctxGuard([&] { EVP_MD_CTX_free(ctx); });\"\n and rename the variable name from \"ctx_dsa\" to \"ctx\".\n- Drop the debug logs from the pub_key.cpp.\n- Resolve \"[: RSA: unexpected operator\" in utils/gen-ipa-priv-key.sh\n\nChanges in v2:\n- Change the meson option name from \"fips\" to \"isp-signature-algo\".\n- Drop the debug print in the pub_key.cpp.\n- One line command \"openssl pkeyutl\" is used to sign the IPA library.\n\nKate Hsuan (4):\n libcamera: pub_key: Add ML-DSA-65 signature algorithm for PQC\n compliance\n utils: codegen: gen-ipa-pub-key: replace openssl rsa with openssl pkey\n ipa: ipa-sign: Sign IPA according to the signature algorithm of the\n key\n meson: Add ipa-signature-algo option\n\n meson_options.txt | 8 ++++\n src/ipa/ipa-sign.sh | 2 +-\n src/libcamera/meson.build | 12 ++++++\n src/libcamera/pub_key.cpp | 66 +++++++++++++++++++++-----------\n src/meson.build | 6 ++-\n utils/check-algo.sh | 37 ++++++++++++++++++\n utils/codegen/gen-ipa-pub-key.py | 2 +-\n utils/gen-ipa-priv-key.sh | 16 ++++++--\n utils/meson.build | 3 ++\n 9 files changed, 123 insertions(+), 29 deletions(-)\n create mode 100755 utils/check-algo.sh\n\n--\n2.55.0" }
